Hey all!

I want to share with you the number 1 thing that makes me cringe and sigh and have minor spats about to my friends.

When someone hasn't pinned their wig to their head.

The result of this is that they:

  • Touch the wig all the time: to pull it down, to adjust it, to check if it's sitting correctly
  • They might lose their wig on stage. *Cringes*

>>> MAKE SURE IT NEVER HAPPENS TO YOU<<<

The reason that I cringe at the sight is probably because I too did not know the secret to backpinning and wide bobbypins - once upon a time:

I reccomend using wide bobbypins to fasten your wig!! They will dig into your hair and you will go bald before someone pulls that wig off your head. I swear it to you.

I have been wearing some seriously heavy wigs and I they haven't moved an inch when I used this technique!

If you're wearing a wig that you haven't pinned properly, you're feeling it slowly slip off your forehead some crazy lady pops out of nowhere and offers to help. She murders your scalp with bobbypins - then it's me. Say hi pls.

Hey!

I decided to move all my tutorials and rants to my deviantart, instead of having it collecting dust on my blog that I  never use.

Hey

A journal update was in order! I have so many costumes planned and so much stuff going on in my life that it's hard to keep track of it all! What I'm working on right now (or planning to get started on in near future) is:

-Uranus
-New wings for my Tinkerbell costume
- A secret project of a character that comes from an.. erogame (whatuuup)
- More crossplay
- Hopefully a bunch of new pictures for you soon!

I hope you'll stick around for that with me!!  If you haven't seen my blog yet, here's a quick preview of some of what it features.. Terrible old pictures of me, make-up goodness and loads and loads of tutorials. If you're planning on doing either Meg or Cinderella I have a video and a picture guide for doing their hair.

Hey all!

I thought I should probably write an update on Japan Expo. It was my second year there, and I got to see the convention from a whole other perspective since I wasn't a participant for the ECG!

We had some time to experience the convention itself, and let me tell you it's HUGEEEE. Not only that, every hallway and open area is covered with PEOPLE. Don't ever wear a big costume to Japan Expo and expect to be able to get around, the wall of people and the crowds of photographers will stop you!! Haha :D

I got to be a judge for the European Cosplay Gathering, which was a HUGE honor for me. I'm so happy I was asked, and that I got this wonderful oppertunity. All the teams were amazing, and we honestly had a hard time.

Like always :iconcalssara: did an impeccable job and took the 1st place for the singles www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZNogG…;

I was very pleased that we could give a 2nd place to my countrywomen the lovely :iconvelociraptor-chan: :iconthe-ice-nine: and :iconfrieddeer:. Check out their amazing act: www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6ZlIE…

You'll want to check out the French girls act, they took 1st place for group: www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_OKdO… (They're crazy good!! :D)

There is nothing like the cosplay stage at Japan Expo.. God, the light is pure love.

On a sidenote I finished my Misha costume in time! Succes!! Apprentice angel! by Su-rine

I made an instegram btw, no biggie, but if you're interested I'm Surinek there. It's mostly progress pics of my costumes and pictures of my cats. Haha.

Sorry for video spamming, but seriously check it out!! :D

Hugs

So, for a really long time I've been wanting to try out three things.. First thing is a form fitted top with buttons instead of zipper in the back. I've only ever made buttonholes for my Alyssa cosplay, and since the jacket isn't supposed to ever be closed I could totally wing that:

The second technique I wanted to try out was tea dying my fabric. What I love about tea dying is the old fashioned look the fabric gets, as if you've left it in your attic for a decade. I did tea dye my twisted Meg, but since I used Lycra it would hardly take in any color! ;__;

Thirdly I've always wanted to make a costume with hotfix rhinestones to try them out! I love how many cosplayers bling up their costumes (It's not something we do a lot in DK, - we seem to live by: if it's not in the reference pic you don't add it!). I found a beautiful artbook design of a character I've done in the past and got started on my costume for Japan Expo (* 3*)!!

wip

I will be super impressed if anyone can guess who I'm redoing! (It's actually the character that inspired my username. <3)

Mucho love
